On a side note, Kai was such a terrible character he didn't even get a speaking role in the finale. I actually would have prefered it that way. I mean Mako certainly ended up with nobody at the end, so its not like they paired everyone up. I thought the show was going to end with Korra ending up with noone. Nobody wanted to see those two back together after being broken up twice aside from those fans. Had they not screwed it up early on it is possible Mako/Korra might have have been possible. I think they abandoned Mako/Korra because the whole love triangle was written terribly and was one of the worst parts of the beginning of the show. It wasn't enough to keep Lin and Tenzin together, and it wasn't enough to keep Mako and Korra together. Love isn't always enough to make a relationship work. I will always give Bryke props for adding 'Love isn't enough' themes in their children's entertainment. Varrick being too thick to realized he liked Zhu Li is a common trope. Heck.Varrick didn't even realize he loved her until after she betrayed him.īut this was far better established.
